Milestone & cake smash session FAQs

I'd love to schedule a session!  Where do I start?

I recommend booking around the 10-11 month mark! If you don't it's okay, but once baby starts walking- it's a whole different ball game! ;)

Sessions are always done in studio.  I can work with you to find a time that works for us both.

Once you've contacted me, I will ask a few questions about the basics of your session- do you have any specific ideas?  Colors you love or don't love?  Once a tentative date is decided, I'll email a prep guide that has *lots* of information to help you!  The retainer invoice will be in that email too.  Once that is paid, you're all set!  

 

What will my session look like? 

 

I'll send you a questionnaire that will help me to get to know you and your likes much better!  Then we can chat via email, phone or over coffee (my personal favorite, ha!) to discuss details!  Maybe baby is shy and you would rather start the session with mama snuggles on the couch instead of jumping into solo photos.  Or there's a favorite song baby has- that is just fine too!  This should be a time that baby can be comfortable with me and we can have fun.

My style stays the same, but I always incorporate little details that you love- a beautiful prop, a fun rug for baby to sit on, some wooden toys or blocks, or just a time to be snuggling with mom and dad. 

 

What do you provide and what do I need to bring?

 

Great question!  I provide all props and fabrics.  I'm adding precious knit/neutral outfits and sweaters to my collection, so as long as you communicate with me about that in advance, you're welcome to use what I have!  Most parents like to bring an outfit or two as well.  I always recommend neutrals to go along with my setups and style. Stores that are great for this are TJMaxx, Old Navy, H&M or Carter's. 

Smash cake- Cake is NOT provided.  These babies are so precious to me!  I don't provide cake for allergy reasons.  Most bakeries have a small 8" cake (perfect size!) for a very reasonable price or it can be made in advance.  And as always, I recommend all white frosting.  Just know that many grocery stores will accept an order for an all white frosted cake if you call about a week ahead.  The neon colors or chocolate cake are less desirable colors (blood, poo, smurf, big bird...eek!) and in my opinion can take away from the sweetness of the star of the show- your baby!

Balloon arches- these are so fun!  I work with a very talented local business and these can be customized for your session (one week advance notice, please) with one, two or three colors.  You get to take the balloon arch home after your session! This is an additional cost.  I'm happy to discuss details with you!

How long after my session will I get my images and what is that process?

About a week after your session I will send a link via email that has your gallery link!  You can view and favorite your images, even share with family!  You will have 5 images available for download, but as an avid overshooter, I promise there will be more images in your gallery that you can purchase if you want.  Don't have to!  But if you choose to, you can buy one or two, or the rest of the gallery.

Your gallery will also include a print release.
